Dr. Matt Lynch from Regent College will speak the topic "Old Testament Violence and the Love of God."

Old Testament violence can be troubling and perplexing for Christians, and no more so than in stories like the Flood or Conquest of the Canaan. How can we face these difficulties?  This talk will suggest ways for engaging these stories honestly and with hope, but without softening or ignoring their challenges. It will also explore ways that the stories of violence are situated within the Old Testament's emphasis on the ultimate triumph of shalom (right-relating wholeness and peace).

Date and Time: Wednesday, March 29, 7-9pm
Location: The Scriptorium Study Centre in University Chapel

As always, there will be refreshments and snacks, as well as plenty of time to connect with friends new and old before and after the presentation.

Matt Lynch is Associate Professor of Old Testament at Regent College.
